KIDS CLUB:

 

This Saturday, 3-15-08, Delta Darts with Don Lacey at PAS

Idea:  Lego Engineering—mechanical things built out of Legos by students;

program out of Tufts U by Dr. Chris Rogers.  Cat3 funds likely available for this.  Probable UA AME contacts.  Incorporate into Kids Club next year, possibly half hour per session.  See what Sara thinks.  Cost is about $2K.

 

 

SPEAKER EVENTS:

 

L Scott Miller- at PASM in front of SR71, Thursday Feb 21

100-150 people.  Went well.  Promo material was out and visible. 

 

 

John Pervis- at UA, March 6 

About 60 people, went well, whole thing under $200 including food, several perspective new student section members.  Students section gave speaker a nice UA pen set, showed him labs and wind tunnel.

 

Interaction with Phoenix

Matt received an email from Mark from the Phx section about dinner meeting later in March.  Will forward incase of interest.

SOARING EVENT

 

20 is max people

subsidies for students and officers might not be doable after PAS bill

April 25 is tentative date—it’s a Raytheon off Friday.  Fridays are club flying days, but this may not be a problem.

Want 2 hour block, 3-5p.m. seems best for club and thermals

Are Saturdays possible?  Doug will inquire.

AERIAL ROBOTICS:

 

Flew blimp at Physics Phun Nite; great exercise for the competition

Went to rehearsal the day before Physics Phun Nite; let kids fly the blimp and

            they loved it, and it’s easy! (Brought cool video)

Working on another hovering video

Trying to come up with configuration from present to hovering improvement.  Present configuration involves two propellers on pods, worrying about breaking propellers in competition—thinking about using single blades, other options
