KIDS CLUB:

• Sara needs reimbursement for Bear Down field reservation. ($60.00).
• Lost one kid due. Too bad so sad. We’re going down the waiting list for a replacement.
• Matt has the key to open the doors for January 27^th, and February 24^th.
• Serina on January 27^th for Math Trick Session.
• It’d be good to have a supplement.
• Matt to arrange a snack (two bottles of Applejuice and some sort of cookie/crackers). The less crummy the better.
• We can use room 309 or the Atrium.
• February will be Physics fun. They’ll charge us a flat rate.
• Still nothing for March. William Bickle might do something an acoustic. There is also something on Garbage that may work out.
• April is Rockets with Steve Lubliner.

WEBSITE:

• Frank posted the newsletter.

TREASURER:

• Matt to pay bill for pensils and magnets ($48.68)
• Matt paid UofA Recreation $60 for a Bear Down Field Reservation for the rocket launch.
• We still need a treasurer (Matt to re-contact Nick Cicchini to see if he’s interested).

AERIAL ROBOTICS

• Frank gave a couple talks at TERRA (Tucson Experimental Radio & Robotics Association). That went pretty well. Frank gave a competitor’s viewpoint. Don Lacy gave the judge’s viewpoint on the previous month.
• Frank spoke to ECE 498A which is a senior design project for electrical Engineers. Students may chose to work on the program for credit.
• Would the section be interested in sponsoring the students if they choose the program?
• Frank to draft up a proposal.
• Started flight testing the drop vehicle

MEMBERSHIP REPORTS:

· Nothing new came up in the past set of reports.

· Doug sent an email to members who can upgrade to “senior member”

· Doug sent an email to members who can upgrade to “associate fellow”

· Matt to still talk to associate fellows.

- Need to go online and fill out a form and get recommendations from other associate fellows or higher.

DISTINGUISHED LECTURER EVENT & E-Week:

· Matt needs Brian Ewenson & Nicole Raymond and make sure everything is still a GO.

· Doug to touch base with Gene.

· February 20^th. Doug to get an AIAA table for 10. Section will cover costs. We need names. Gene and his wife can sit with us. We can invite the fellows and any of us of course.

· Doug got a bunch of things to hand out at the Foothills on the 18^th.

· Frank may be able to help Doug out on Feb18th.

· Sara to talk to Lisa about getting more “Careers in Aerospace Books.”

· Matt to send out email reminder two weeks prior to the presentation.

NEWSLETTER:

• Newsletter is ready for postage.
• Matt to have that out Friday or Saturday.

BORDER SECURITY FORUM:

• Feb 20-22 for Ft. Huachuca. for Border Security.
• Kevin is going to be involved the whole time and will not make our events.
• Not clear if we have a roll in the goings on.

SOARING CLUB EVENT:

• Soaring club will do an event on for a group of 12 or more. They’d prefer a non club flying day (week day).
• Doug’s neighbor wants to go.
• The rate will be $85 per person.
• Prof. Herman Fasel is a soaring club member and would be interested in helping us plan the event.
• Doug was thinking of April 27^th. (summer is better flying but is more turbulent.)
• Doug knows an ex U2 pilot who is a soaring club member who could prepare a talk at the same event.
• We can ask for support

Camping Trip:

• April 13^th looks like a dark weekend.
• Somewhere up Mount Lemon or Similar. (Matt to email names of locations).
• George is willing….he just wants someone to help shop.
• Include an announcement in the February email.

Art Contest:

• We’d like to sponsor an art/writing contest to send out to local kids. We could set up a cash prize and get a local astronaut or similar to judge. Sara to look into it.

MISC:

• Sara to ask Lindy to write something regarding the conference in Houston.
• Sara got her ears pierced.
