Meeting Minutes for June 2006

 

Next meeting is Tuseday July 11th at El Parador at 6:00 PM

 

ATTENDEES: 

Matt Angiulo, Sara Falconer, Steve Ratts, Frank Manning, Maren McRae, Doug May, Patrick Craine

 

TREASURER:

  • Account Balance ~$2375.37 minus bank fees
    • Balance shows that there is ~4K in the account.
  • Pat wrote a check to me for 200 bucks for stamps, first aid, and labels.
  • Pat wrote George Barber a check for $290.

 

KIDS CLUB:

  • No word from Susan Brew….so we don’t know where we’re going to host the event next year
  • Plenty of teachers but no dates.

 

STUDENT SECTION:

  • NO word from Students

 

WEBSITE:

  • Frank and Pat need to get together to arrange payment.
  • Frank needs a corrected version of the newsletter for the webpage.

 

NEWSLETTER:

  • Newsletter is printed and will go out this week. 
  • Officers and enlisted men and women stuffed, labeled, and stamped newsletters during the meeting.
  • Next year make email voting an option.
  • Next year we can come up with some issue for people to vote on.
  • Doug is membership chair and requires membership information.
  • Sara Volunteers to print the labels next time
  • Have John add return address.

 

RETIREES:

·        Sara to find retirees who want to have brunch with youngins.

·        Small coalition of retirees to create mentoring program for highschool seniors

·        Steve Ratts knows TAAA people who may be interested.

o       Reach for the stars

 

BORDER SECURITY FORUM

·        Tie-in to AIAA unclear at this point

o       Perhaps something like a UAV development topic would get us involved.

·        Sara is unavailable to help in Sept.-Oct. for anything.

·        If the Crows were planning all the details, what would be our role?

·        We need more information on our role and the tie-in to our membership before we move forward.

·        Half of the officers don’t want to do this…..the other half are uncertain.  No one seems convinced that it’s the right move for us.

 

AERIAL ROBOTICS

  • Only 1 month left before competition.
  • Out of 20 teams, Pima College came in 4th place in 2005
    • 13 teams showed up and only 5 flew under computer control (Pima was one of them)
    • Tied for 1st place in 3 categories:
      • Primary propulsion
      • Crashworthiness
      • Containment of fuel and exhaust
    • 2nd place in shielding of propellers

 

SECTION AWARDS:

  • June 15th all awards need to be completed
  • Sara will review with Matt
  • Matt will send out directions to the award forms and specify what sort of input is required from Officers.
