Meeting Minutes for May 2006

 

Next meeting is Tuesday June 6th.

El Parador at 6:00 PM

 

ATTENDEES: 

Matt Angiulo, Sara Falconer, Frank Manning, Maren McRae, Doug May, Steve Ratts, Patrick Craine

 

TREASURER:

  • Account Balance ~$2375.37 minus bank fees
    • Balance shows that there is ~4K in the account.
  • Sara also has receipts for $19.98 and $6.00 that need to be reimbursed.
  • John Keller will submit a request for funds for his ice and his dirt.
    • Sara gave receipts to Pat at this meeting.
  • Matt was reembursed $111.20 for newsletter stamps.
  • Sara paid $90.00 for camp site (35 a night)…need a check.
  • Sara gave a check for $20.00 from one person reserving a spot.
  • Steve Lubliner received a check for ~$200 for April Rocket Session.

 

KIDS CLUB:

  • April 22nd was Rockets (with eggs).
    • Maren helped out.
    • It’ll cost about $200.00 total.
  • No word from Susan Brew. (May not be able host Kids Club at LPL Thanks to Matt)
  • Maybe Kevin can contact her.
  • We may be able to host at PASM
    • Attendance will be low
  • We can try to contact AME or Pima College
  • Kids Club activities are done until September.
  • Sara wants to get the student section involved in Kids Club
    • Maybe get them involved with Delta Dart Session….have them show off their plane and project.

 

STUDENT SECTION:

  • Student Section plane crashed at the competition before it could return a score.  Crash was intentionally commanded by the pilot when a gust pushed the plane toward a crowd.  Students want as many members to be pilots as possible.
  • At the start of next semester we can host a few sessions to help the students out.  We can help train pilots and we can teach basic RC building techniques.  Pima Aerial Robotics Club can be included.

 

WEBSITE:

  • Webpage setup (www.aiaatucson.com)
  • Frank has full access.
  • Sara will send webmaster captions for pictures.
  • Matt has pictures to send to Frank
  • Still waiting on contract.
  • We’ll pay for the full year.
  • Frank talked to a student that runs websites who would be willing to set us up with one…..8 bucks a month or 89 a year.

 

NEWSLETTER:

  • Newsletter articles need to be finished by the 12th
    • John needs to be done by the 19th
    • Raytheon needs to be done by the 22nd
    • Newsletter will be out by the 30th
  • Sara’s is done with 1 article regarding Serinas kids club. She will also complete 1 kids club recap article, and 1 article regarding Parker Canyon Lake event.
  • Matt to write “Chair’s corner:.
  • Sara will ask Brian Ewenson to write something
  • Matt to write about McMasters talk.
  • Craine will write membership articles.  2 membership article (check your email acceptance)
  • Matt will ask students to write an article regarding DBF.
  • Matt will include ballot in newsletter. (fold and return – stamp)

 

AERIAL ROBOTICS

  • Only 3 months left before competition.
  • Focusing on level one requirements
  • Frank did a flight demo for high school students in globe
  • There is a lack of qualified pilots

 

SECTION AWARDS:

  • June 15th all awards need to be completed
  • Sara will review with Matt
  • Matt will send out directions to the award forms and specify what sort of input is required from Officers.

 

 

ACTION ITEMS:

  • Add Doug as an officer on the webpage with administrator purposes.
  • Matt to send out Best Practices email to everyone.
