Meeting Minutes for March 2006
Next meeting is Wednesday, April 5th.

ATTENDEES:
Matt
Angiulo, Sara Falconer, Doug May, George Platanitis, Kevin Kremeyer
TREASURER:
- Account Balance ~$2375.37 minus bank fees
- Matt received reimbursed for kids club expenses
~$125.00
- Matt received reimbursed for engraved pens for
~100
- Steve Lubliner received a check for $200 for Oct
Rocket Session.
KIDS CLUB:
- Feb 18th was Solar Weather and
Astronomy session
- TAAA showed up with telescopes
- Melissa Williams from the Flandreau to organize
- Destiny in Space IMAX was played by Matt in
Steve’s absence.
- March 25th is Mars - John Keller is
teaching
- April 22nd is Rockets (with eggs).
- It’ll cost about $200.00 total.
- No word from SMART should be coming up in late
March early April.
- Matt has pictures from Kids Club

John McMasters
(“Reflections of a Paleo Aerodynamicist Airplane Design; Past, Present, &
Future”) has agreed to present his airplane talk on March 9th.

Talking at PASM (5:30 –
8:30)

Matt ordered a
Vegitable and a Cheese plate for 30 people each. Should come out to be about 200.00.

PASM will give us the
room for free.
·
ASME, Pima, UofA, and
Raytheon are aware.
·
Phoenix section is
interested.
·
Sara has been
contacting educator associates and following up with other members.

Matt to get tabletop
display from Pat Craine

email list sucks.

Sara is correcting the
errors in the AIAA spreadsheet.

She’ll hand it off to
me to update yahoo.

E-Week Mall
Outreach Thing:
- Feb. 18th
10-3 at Foothills Mall
- Doug
and Pat C Staffed the AIAA booth.
- Doug
requested materials for all ages from Lisa Bacon
- Balsa Gliders
and flyers.
- Doug
manned the booth until noon and then Pat C took over.
- Doug gave away and educator book….Pat gave one
also.
- Doug had the table top display
- Group in Saddlebrook that helps teachers teach
Math….Doug to send them the rest of the forms.
WEBSITE:
- Still no contract
- Frank talked to a student that runs websites who
would be willing to set
- Us up with one…..8 bucks a month or 89 a year.
It’d be hosted somewhere in Phoenix.
We’ll get our own domain name.
- Frank to ask on support….contract is upcoming.
- Site should be linked on national…..email that
when finished.
NEWSLETTER:
- Went out, should be in mailboxes today
- Looks Great.
- Lets plan to get another one out in April
AIAA book New in Aerospace:

Club Event:
- Doug met an instructor (Richard Barns) at the El
Tiro Gliderport (Northwest – by I-10, half way to pinal air park)
- Doug will contact them and invite them out to
our event.
- Doug will investigate options for having an
event out there.
- We could potentially do a joint meeting with
ASME. (We should invite them to our next event regardless)
Other Speaker
Event:
- Terry White may be willing to give some talk on
Aerodynamics
- Focus on presenting to teachers (Sara to ask for
input).
- Teachers could bring High School students to
meet Student Section
- Perhaps at AME or Pima or at a high school.
- Sara to ask about the best time to do it. (Do an
Assembly)
- Might be tough to get a big school event by the
end of the year…..could back up and just to a teacher event.
- 1st week in May or last week in
April.
- Aerial Robotics could be involved.
AERIAL ROBOTICS
- Another Tour. (see if you can find pictures)
- Frank to tell about DL event.
- Found a couple remote buildings that could be
used for camera testing.
- Continued Camera Tests.
- Presentation to a bunch of eighth grades.
- REMEMBER TO BRAG ABOUT THIS IN AWARD FORMS.
ACTION ITEMS:
- Matt needs to call Ed Palanek about gunnery
range.
- Matt to ask specific questions regarding our
specific events and our AIAA insurance coverage
- Matt to find someone regarding GBU-15 that may
want to volunteer with Pima guidance.
- Matt to see about a permanent AIAA display at
PASM.
- Teacher stuff from Pat C to Doug
