Meeting Minutes for January 2006
Next meeting is Tuesday, February 7th.
El Parador at 6:00 PM
ATTENDEES:
Matt
Angiulo, Sara Falconer, Frank Manning, Patrick Craine, Doug May
TREASURER:
- Check was signed to Pat H for Picnic expenses
- Park rates going down next year….maybe do
rocket launch there. UA Bear Down field cost us about ~$95.00
- Account Balance ~$2527.37
- Patrick suggests sitting down and making a
better budget other then the official budget so we can more closely track our
expenses.
- Wednesday January 18th Matt will be
working on AIAA things if there are any questions.
KIDS CLUB:
- Jan 21st is WindTunnel and Serina
Deniga with math based workshop
- Split group into two and 1hr 20 each and then
switch.
- Hopefully Adrian
will be there to help me.
- Start at 8:30,
session begins at 9:00. One volunteer by door.
- Start in the classroom (309) Me in the Atrium
- Serina will use the white board.
- Matt to meet up with Sara Friday afternoon 1:00 PM somewhere.
- Matt to email Sara with details.
- Matt to get student section volunteers.
- Feb 18th is a Solar Weather and
Astronomy session
- TAAA will show up with telescopes
- Steve Ratts and Melissa Williams from the
Flandreau to organize
- Matt A to support in Sara’s absence – Matt to
get the key on.
- March 25th is Mars - John Keller to
teach
- April 22nd is Rockets (with eggs).
- It’ll cost about $200.00 total.
- SMART will be coming up in late March early
April.
- Sara will need to be reimbursed for her travel
expenses (hotel, food, etc. Flights have already been taken care of).
DISTINGUISHED
LECTURER

John McMasters (“Airplane
Design; Past, Present, & Future”) has agreed to present his airplane talk
on March 9th or 16th.

I am checking
with PASM to see if they have a preference

PASM will give
us the room for free.

Paleo might be
the best talk

Maybe a joint
meeting with ASME
WEBSITE:
- We should investigate having Robert Wagoner host
the web site, since he did it before when he was webmaster (late 1990s).
- The club could buy space.
- We could investigate PMAM
- Site should be linked on national
NEWSLETTER:
- We'll get the next Newsletter out this month
- We need to ask for people to add our email
address to their spam filter acceptance list.
- Distinguished Lecturer article (Matt)
- Picnic article (Pat Craine)
- Softball Tournament article (Pat Haley)
- We still have the Wind tunnel and Build Space
articles
- Different types of articles from different
chairs....try to focus
- Sara to add boyscout article
- Aerial Robotics article (Frank)
- Solicit Pima for a very interesting article to add
to a future newsletter (like contrails)
Tucson Soaring Club Event:
- Doug met an instructor (Richard Barns) at the El
Tiro Gliderport (Northwest – by I-10, half way to pinal air park)
- Doug will investigate options for having an
event out there.
- We could potentially do a joint meeting with
ASME. (We should invite them to our next event regardless)
AERIAL ROBOTICS
- Continued Camera Tests.
- Sara is not crazy about aerial robotics
- Robert Wagoner appointed
Assistant Director of the Aerial Robotics Advisory
Committee.
ACTION ITEMS:
- Sara to get in touch with Adrian and give her money for snacks and
whatnot.
- Matt to ask specific questions regarding our
specific events and our AIAA insurance coverage
- Matt and Pat couldn’t find Sara’s Receipt. Pat to pay a receipt for $55 dollars to
Sara. Matt to document the
confusion.
- Matt to find someone regarding GBU-15 that may
want to volunteer with Pima guidance.
- Matt to see about a permanent AIAA display at
PASM.
