COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
AIAA TUCSON SECTION
5 OCTOBER 2005
ATTENDEES:
Matt Angiulo, Frank Manning, Sara Falconer, Maren McRae
DISTINGUISHED LECTURER:
· Find something relevant to Raytheon (around in Feb)
o - maybe something that’s general interest
· Matt sent the list to Don Uhlir and go no response. Matt to send the list out again.
· We can still coordinate with Phoenix.
· Set up a speaking event at UofA for Terry
o Terry wants to be a distinguished lecturer and Matt will submit it.
· Doug suggests Gene Austin (future of space program)
· James E Walker
· Thomas Morgenfeld
· Scott Miller
KIDS CLUB:
· 32 students enrolled
o $35 per student ($5 discount if 2 students in 1 family)
· You have about $900.00 to be deposited.
· October 29th is the next session. Rockets at PASM.
· Nov 19th “No Shirt, no shoes, no air, no prob” at PASM
o Brian Ewenson can find a projector.
· Adrienne has volunteered to help again. She will be invited to dinner.
· Maren will volunteer to help out in March.
· Sara’s play was a hit!
· An audition has been scheduled for Pat H. for the character of “Maraca Guy” in Sara’s next play. Please wear tights
· Sept 24th Physics factory received was sent to Pat to be mailed to Kip John-something.
· A little girl's mother emailed Sara and said "I had no idea science could be so much fun!" -- Hannah Whitmire-Borck, age 8 (after the morning with the Physics Factory). This will go on the webpage (Sara to send to Frank)
· Steve Ratts for January session. (Matt to fill in for Sara)
· Someone will have to staff February while Matt is skiing.
WEBSITE:
· Frank to add meeting minutes to the webpage.
· Newsletter was uploaded.
· Frank to research moving the page to the AIAA National webspace.
· Sara to send pictures and schedule to Frank
NEWSLETTER:
· Next set of articles due on November 16th
· We'll get the next Newsletter out in December
· We still have the wind tunnel and build space articles
· Different types of articles from different chairs....try to focus
· - Thats what they grade us on.
TREASURER:
· No new update this month. Last months update read as follows:
· $3738.85 currently in account
· We were reimbursed $565.54 from the CAT III Titan Reimbursement
· Joe will approve an additional 300 bones if we can get him the request by mid September.
· Pat Craine has all the information required and can draft up a document.
· - Pat will send a copy to me, Kevin, & Pat H for review before sending it out.
· Matt to check with Kevin or Pat to make sure the budget was submitted.
HOLIDAY PARTY MIXER:
· Pat to research UofA skybox….we may need to do something else
· We need to lock this down and send out a notice immediately!
· I don’t really care what we do, we just need to do it.
PICNIC:
· Mid to late march
· Pat Craine to contact the field.
INSURANCE:
· Pat Craine to send in. He should have everything he needs.
SOUNDING ROCKET PROGRAM:
· Send info to dougmay@gmail.com
· Ramohalli never got back to me. I’ll try him again.
AERIAL ROBOTICS
· Three new team members.
· Looking for people with expertise in Micro Air Vehicles.
· Shkarayev may be a good contact.
o Doug has a point of contact at BYU. (Jerry Bowman)
· Still planning to Raytheon for funding.
· Also planning to approach ACR for funding.
STUDENT
TEACHERS:
· Have someone talk to student teachers and see about starting up an AIAA section in the Education program.
STUDENT SECTION:
· Students asked for project
o February 26th Kids club session
o Have them come up with something.
· Matt will go to the session.
Next Meeting Tuesday November 2th at 6:00 PM (Location TBD)
Old Pueblo at Alvernon and Broadway....check to see a back room.
ACTION ITEMS:
· Find a GBU-15 contact for Frank Manning
· Matt to send Katrina relief reminder to Sara. She is to generate text and Matt will send out the reminder.
